Bisexual Activists Attend 2012 White House LGBT Pride Reception

On the afternoon of Friday, June 15th 2012 US President Barack Obama hosted a reception at the White House to celebrate LGBT Pride month. The place was packed; rough estimates peg the head count at around 500 including eight American bisexual community leaders and activists.
- Lauren Beach is a Minnesota based law student and PhD candidate. Beach a bisexual activist co-chairs the Bisexual Organizing Project (BOP) and is an organizer with annual BECAUSE Conference
- Emily Drennen is a San Francisco CA based Transportation Policy Analyst who holds an MPA from San Francisco State University and is a graduate of Emerge California’s program to train women to hold public office. Drennen is active in Bay Area Bisexual Network (BABN) and is married to fellow bisexual activist LindaSusan Ulrich.
- Estraven is a suburban Westchester County NY based psychologist. Estraven a longtime bisexual & genderqueer activist facilitates the Bi Discussion group at the LOFT LGBT Center in White Plains and is a director with the NY Tri-state area’s regional bisexual group the New York Area Bisexual Network (NYABN)
- Morgan Goode is a Brooklyn based bisexual & genderqueer photographer, writer and activist. Goode, a Production Associate for WNET.org, also works with Queers for Economic Justice and is Board Member of BiNet USA
- Denise Penn, MSW is an Orange County CA based Clinical Social Worker as well as a writer and editor. Penn a long-time bisexual activist is a Director with the American Institute of Bisexuality (AIB)
- Regina Reinhardt, PhD is a San Diego CA based psychologist who has served the bisexual community for 28 years. Reinhardt is the Managing Editor of the Journal of Bisexuality, and serves on the Board of Directors of the American Institute of Bisexuality (AIB)
- Chiquita Violette is a Dallas TX based college student activist. She is member of DFW Bi Net, a contributor to Bi Women Newsletter as well as being a Board Member of BiNet USA
- LindaSusan Ulrich is a San Francisco CA based bisexual activist who is the principal author of the 2011 San Francisco Human Rights Commission report “Bisexual Invisibility: Impacts and Recommendations”. Ulrich, who is married to fellow bisexual activist Emily Drennen, recently left her position as the Communications Manager/Writer for Horizons Foundation to attend Starr King School for the Ministry on the path towards becoming a Unitarian Universalist minister.
Following the reception the entire group continued on to dinner where they were joined by local bisexual activists including Dr.Loraine Hutchins and Matthew Le Grant.
